I close my eyes
and for a moment
I am nine again
and life is full of promise.
The moments are new,
my thoughts unguarded,
no lingering hurts,
no fear of the future.
Life is full of possibilities,
of things to be dreamed
and tried, the future
still exciting, yet to be.
I close my eyes
and in that moment
I remember I’m sixty
and life is full of promise.
The moments are new,
my thoughts unguarded,
lingering hurts forgiven,
no fear of the the future.
And once again,
Life is full of possibilities,
of things to be dreamed
and tried, the future
still exciting, yet to be.
